14 Apr Shana-Smiles all around at fields pro day
As incoming QB Justin Fields threw during his second pro day, he was under the watchful eyes of many NFL teams, including the San Francisco 49ers. More importantly however, he was being evaluated by Kyle Shanahan, the man who has significant ties with the now-former OSU quarterback.
Shanahan was not able to be at Fields’ first pro day, due to him being in attendance for Alabama QB Mac Jones’ pro day.
Nonetheless, there has been plenty of reactions to the multitude of videos that have emerged from today’s showing, Including a video that caught Shanahan smiling cheek to cheek when talking to Fields,
Hell of a wholesome video clip. It feels like it’s been awhile since we have seen any sort of positive energy reflected from Kyle. While I don’t want to take too much away from this clip, I will say that the connection between Shanahan and Fields seems to be legit. After all, these two have been working for quite some time together within the QB collective.
This was just one of the many remarkable throws that Fields unleashed throughout the day. Much like his first pro day, Fields continues to show why he deserves to be a top-5 pick in the NFL draft.
As time moves closer to the NFL draft, speculation about who the 49ers are going to take has been running wild. One thing that has stood out however, is the thought of the team picking Mac Jones at #3. Some weeks ago, rumors were flying that the 49ers were likely to take Jones, based off of tweets from major NFL reporters, most notable ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The reality is this: As much hype as these two have been getting, as well as NDSU’s Trey Lance, no one truly knows what the 49ers are going to do. A few weeks ago, Mac Jones was getting all of the love. This week, it’s Justin Fields. Next week when Lance has his pro day, the same thoughts will likely be repeated.
As we inch closer and closer to the draft, the rumor mill will only begin to swirl more and more. If there’s anything to say about it however, it is that it sounds like Fields did himself a huge favor by having another solid pro day. He’s been receiving all of the love, and although I myself am a Lance fan, having Fields sporting the red and gold would be a true thing of beauty.
