Notes and Pieces from 49ers Victory

It’s a somber day in New Jersey as the 49ers beat the New York Jets 31-13

The big story of the game was the multitude of injuries, headlines by Nick Bosa, who had to get carted off with a lower-leg injury. Suffered in the first quarter, Bosa’s injury was then followed by Solomon Thomas, who also had to get carted off the field with a lower-leg injury.

Aside from these two, Jimmy Garoppolo and Raheem Mostert both suffered injuries that knocked them out of the game after one half of football.

Jimmy was injured in the first quarter as well, taking a hit to his right ankle that hobbled him for the rest of the game. Even though he was injured, Jimmy still finished the game with a solid line. He completed 14 passes out of 16 for 131 yards and 2 TDs.

Jordan Reed was the biggest x-factor out of the pass catchers, as he finished with 7 catches for 50 yards and 2 TDs.

The run game was solid for the 49ers as well, as Raheem Mostert opened the game with a beautiful 80 yard touchdown on a toss play, which happened on the first play of the game.

Jerick McKinnon also had a solid day, capped off by a huge 55-yard run on a 3rd and long situation.

As for the defense, they held the Jets to a meager 13 points. It was solid through and through, as even with the losses to Bosa and Thomas, the defense performed admirably. The team only sacked Darnold one time, however, the pressure was on him all afternoon.

Here are some reactions to the 49ers’ upsetting win over the Jets.

Overall, the biggest takeaway from this game was the injuries. Nothing has been said regarding Bosa’s injury, but nonetheless, the team came away with their first victory of the season. Next week: the New York Giants, where the team will play on the same field that resulted in the numerous injuries for the day.
