26 Aug 49ers Dealing With Injuries… Already
After a season that challenged the 49ers depth chart, especially in the second half of the season. The 49ers faced numerous injuries, many of which happened to key players such as Ronald Blair III (ACL), Dee Ford (knee) & Weston Richburg (Torn patellar tendon), the injury bug is striking once again throughout the team’s training camp.
Notable injuries to Deebo Samuel (pre-training camp), Brandon Aiyuk, Dee Ford, Arik Armstead, Nick Bosa & of course Jalen Hurd have put a significant damper on the excitement the camp has to offer.
Samuel, who broke his foot earlier in the off-season, is on track to possibly play in week 1 against the Arizona Cardinals, although as of this moment it appears to be in doubt. Aside from him, Aiyuk and Ford both left practices this past week with leg injuries, which the team later reported they were minor injuries and they are currently week-to-week and day-to-day respectively. Armstead reported with back issues, so the team has been taking it easy with him for the time being. The same can be said for second-year star defensive end, Nick Bosa, whose time away from camp has been called “maintenance,” which may also be code for “taking it easy.”
Which is totally fine with me, i wouldn’t want any of these star players risking any sort of injury either. However, the injury bug is back, and it is stinging with rampant pace.
The past week alone, the team has already signed wide receivers Tavon Austin, Jaron Brown & JJ Nelson, along with TE Erik Swoope, S Jonathan Cyprien, C Hroniss Grasu and S Evan Foster.

Even though these are all players in different position groups, it is still telling of the 49ers’ injury situation. They may only be camp bodies, however they all can also be decent depth adds as well.
Time will only tell how severe these injuries are, specifically Brandon Aiyuk’s and Dee Ford’s, but one thing is for certain — if the training camp injuries are any indicator of how the regular season may go, then the team should prepare for one hell of a ride this coming season.
UPDATE: NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the 49ers were bringing in a plethora of wide receivers for workouts.. We’ll continue to update the story if they proceed to sign any.
